The perspective of families on the influence of ICT in daily life and values of teenagers

The general purpose of the research is to analyze the perception of families with regard to the use that their children and daughters do of information technologies and the communication. We want to see what is the importance that families show to their children about ICT, as well as values that are derived of it.

It seeks out whether parents and young people share the same meaning in relation to the uses and impact of information technology and communication, taking into account such as young people spend their time, in which spaces and with whom. This is to test whether the perception of parents agreed or not with the youth and also identifying values and varieties in the style of communication between parents and their children.

To confirm is expected if parents and mothers and young people share the same meaning in connection with uses and the influence of the information technologies and the communication, considering as young people invest the time, in which spaces and with who. The question is if the parental perception coincides or not with that one of young people identifying thus also values and varieties in the style of communication between parents and mothers and his children and daughters.

The study subjects are, on the one hand, parents of young teenagers from 12 to 16 years in Barcelona,  and on the other hand are the sons and daughters. The study will be carried out from the adaptation of a questionnaire used in the research "The influence of ICT in the life of boys and girls from 12 to 16 years",  supervisated by Pere Amorós, Maria Rosa Buxarrais, and Ferran Casas.
